This is our home. According to county records, it was completed in 1920.
We purchased the home in 1995. At that time, it had been a rental property for
the previous 12 years, and consisted of two front rooms, a bedroom, kitchen, laundry
room and a small, enclosed back porch downstairs. Up the open staircase, there are two
large bedrooms, a bath, and a chimney that leaked to the basement.
The yard was in desperate need of attention. The charming, but leaning garage in the
back is accessed from a side street through an easement in the neighboring
backyard. The driveway was muddy and unpaved. The backyard was fenced in on two sides
with wire fence and one side with the neighbor's chainlink fence. The yard is very small
and managable.

What we found most attractive about the house was that it
hadn't been badly remodeled. The upstairs bedrooms had walk-in closets, and only one
had been paneled. It was also the one with baseboard electric heat
due to the lack of ductwork to service that room.
Virtually, all the yellow pine woodwork was original and intact.
Only the kitchen woodwork had been painted. The pocket doors between the
two front rooms had been boarded up, therefore, protected for years. We also
had hopes of hardwood floors under the glued-down brown berber carpet.
Outside improvements to date include paving the drive in front of the garage, replacing the
wire fence with white picket, a recovered-brick patio, privacy fence and gate between
the neighboring house, arborvitae now hides the chainlink fence, flower
gardens have been planted and a front-porch swing has been added.
We've been busy inside, too. Click on a picture to peek inside.
